Randy Gerald Atkinson, 46, formerly of Minatare, passed away in a Tucson Hospital on Thursday, 27, 2017. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 26, 2017 at The WestWay Christian Church in Scottsbluff with Pastor Shane Coop officiating. A private family inurnment will take place at a later time at the Mitchell Valley Cemetery south of Mitchell. Cremation was held in Arizona.

He was born on March 10, 1971, in Bassett, Nebraska to Martin and Louise (Moore) Atkinson. He graduated from Minatare High School in 1989. He was awarded a track scholarship to Midland Lutheran College but finished his degree at Chadron State College in 1995 with a Bachelor's of Science in Education. He later went on to manage RV resorts in the Arizona area.

Randy was baptized and a member of the WestWay Christian Church.

Survivors include his parents, Martin and Louise of Scottsbluff; brother, Richard Atkinson and his wife Susan of Johnstown, CO; sister, Cathy and husband Jim Bornschlegl of Mitchell, NE; children, Brenden, Brock and Elizabeth Atkinson; grandson, Asher all of Rapid City, SD; his fiancé, Belinda Shoemaker; and extended family, Halley, Rayce, Hunter; and granddaughter, Persephone Knight of Arizona.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to the family and can be sent to Mr. & Mrs. Martin Atkinson, 2809 Dineen Avenue, Scottsbluff, NE 69361.

Non-formal attire is requested, Husker attire adored, but not necessary.
